Skin to Skin 

Experimental short documentary

An experimental short documentary capturing the experience of those who suffer from eczema.

This film inspired me to combine the visceral experiences captured by the film's interviewees as they described intimate details about their relationship with their skin, and how eczema affects their jobs, sex lives, self-care routines, mental health and everyday lives.

The creative vision behind the film came from my research into the condition. I kept to a flesh toned palette, and designed sets, costumes and experimental visuals based on the journey of how the skin reacts to having eczema. I wanted to reflect the experiences told by our participants in an intuitive way, I aimed to provoke certain reactions by using materials that correlated to the textures of the skin during the different phases of an eczema flare-up.
